Unscented vs. Scented Bar Soap: A Simple Guide
Share
When I started making soap, it was because I wanted to know exactly what was in the things I put on my skin. The question I get asked most is simpler than that: fragrance or no fragrance? There is no wrong answer. It comes down to what your skin likes and what you want your routine to feel like.
The scented side
Our Signature bars are fragranced with Fragrance (Parfum), and some carry color from skin-safe micas. If a shower is partly a small daily pleasure for you, this is your line. One note from a maker: fragrance is the most common irritant in any soap, so if your skin is sensitive, patch test first.
The Bare line

Every Bare bar is made without added fragrance, full stop. Most are also free of added color. The two exceptions are the ones where nature does the coloring: Bare Turmeric and Bare Coffee get their warm golden and rich brown tones from the turmeric and coffee themselves, with no added mica or dye.
How to choose
If you have sensitive skin, or you just want your soap to be soap, start with Bare. If you love a scent and your skin is easygoing, the Signature line is a treat. And if you are unsure, the Bare line never argues with anyone.
